RESEARCH AND OPTIMIZATION OF CHARACTERISTICS OF THE X-RAY FLUORESCENT SEPARATOR OF GOLD

The article deals with the practical implementation of the X-ray fluorescence method for the separation of gold-bearing ores. Modern methods are becoming less and less profitable given the gradual development of rich deposits. To increase the economic efficiency of gold mining, it is necessary to introduce new technologies into the process. Comparison of technical characteristics showed that the X-ray fluorescence method has an advantage over the X-ray absorption method. In view of the fundamental physical limitations of the latter and because of the imperfection of technical means (sources of radiation and detectors). The paper shows the results of prototyping individual units and separator blocks, which al-lowed to evaluate its main parameters, presents the results of calculations related to the optimization of sensitivity of the methods and the limit of detection gold in the rock. A preliminary assessment of the effectiveness of the method shows that the use of a technology for preliminary concentration of gold-bearing ores will significantly reduce the cost of mining by eliminating the need for crush the entire volume of processed ore.
