OPEN RESONATOR OWN MODES FORMATION MODELLING IN THE STUDY OF LASER PHYSICS

Physical and mathematical model allowing to investigate the formation of the spatial structure of radiation in a laser resonator is presented. The simulation results for plane-parallel and confocal resonators at various Fresnel numbers are presented . A computer program makes it possible to observe how laser radiation, having an initially random amplitude and phase distribution, with repeated propagation from one mirror to another, acquires a spatial structure corresponding to a stationary distribution. Steady-state field intensity distributions on the mirrors, as well as graphical dependences of the field amplitude at any point depending on the number of passes from one mirror to another, can be printed. Numerical simulation is performed using the iterative method of Fox and Lee. The program can be used in the engineering design of laser resonators for calculating the field distribution over the surface of the mirrors and in carrying out laboratory work and practical exercises in the study of laser physics by students. The user-friendly interface allows students to fully concentrate on studying physical processes.
