METHOD OF INTEGRATED ECOLOGICAL AND CHEMICAL ASSESSMENT GROUND DEPOSITS IN THE GULF OF FINLAND
The report focuses on the influence of the granulometric composition of ground deposit in the pollution assessment with the objective of ensuring the reliability of the results. It is shown that heavy metals and compounds of organic origin, mainly pe-troleum products, are among the priority pollutants of ground deposits. A method has been developed for an integrated eco-logical and chemical assessment of ground deposits, using approximately background concentrations of heavy metals in ground deposits corresponding to different granulometric fractions. By results of the analysis of tests of ground deposits in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland typification of ground deposits is made. A GIS-model for automating the processing of initial data is created. On the basis of GIS ArcGIS for Desktop, an integrated spatial characteristic is constructed, which allows identification of the most polluted areas in the Gulf of Finland with a view to implementing environmental activities.
