«TREATISE ON ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM» BY J. K. MAXWELL AND ITS INFLUENCE ON MODERN SCIENCE

The paper considers significance of the J. K. Maxwell electromagnetic field theory in the development of science and engineering. It is emphasized that Maxwell’s research laid the foundation for quantum theory, relativity theory and other theories. It is shown that investigations of electromagnetic field produced a profound influence on technology and engineering fields of science, which gave rise to entirely new directions in science and engineering.
